Job Description

Senior Salesforce Developer — State of CT - Department of Children and Families
Location: 
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Duration: October 14, 2026–October 28, 2027
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern; 40 hours per week
Mandatory Location and Interview Requirements
  • Both first- and second-round interviews are face-to-face only, on Wednesday or Thursday.
  • Candidates must be available to attend interviews in Hartford.
  • Office attendance is required one day per week or two days every two weeks.

Position Overview

The Connecticut Department of Children and Families seeks two senior Salesforce Developers to support existing custom Salesforce applications and the development of CT-KIND, its next-generation child welfare information system.

The developers will participate in the full software development lifecycle and collaborate with the system integrator on knowledge transfer, module support, and ongoing maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning pages, and Visualforce.
  • Apply object-oriented programming principles and design patterns to build maintainable solutions.
  • Develop Salesforce configurations, SOQL queries, and CRUD functionality.
  • Analyze requirements and support application integrations.
  • Participate in requirements validation, technical design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and production support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with agency teams and the system integrator to support knowledge transfer.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and independently drive assigned work from requirements through implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall relevant software development experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience.
  • Strong Apex coding, object-oriented programming, and design-pattern expertise.
  • Experience with Lightning pages, Visualforce, Salesforce configuration, SOQL, and CRUD operations.
  • Knowledge of .NET object-oriented development and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • SQL and end-to-end web development experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical teams.

Preferred Skills

  • JavaScript frameworks.
  • C#, Microsoft .NET Framework, and web services.
  • Agile development methodology.
  • Responsive design patterns.
  • Prior public-sector application experience.
