Senior Site Reliability Engineer (AWS CDK)

£60,000 - £66,000 + 15% bonus

VIQU has partnered with a leading UK technology organisation investing significantly in its cloud platform and engineering capability. They are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help shape their AWS infrastructure, improve platform resilience and support the development of the wider engineering team.

This is a genuinely hands-on senior role, with approximately 80% of your time focused on engineering and 20% on mentoring and supporting other engineers. As the Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will take ownership across AWS infrastructure, automation, reliability and operational improvement while contributing to technical direction and engineering best practice.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Site Reliability Engineer

• Design, build and maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK.

• Drive improvements across platform reliability, automation and infrastructure as code.

• Implement and improve CI/CD practices across the engineering environment.

• Enhance monitoring, observability and incident management.

• Improve cloud performance, resilience and operational efficiency.

• Work closely with engineering, architecture and delivery teams.

• Mentor and support engineers, promoting strong SRE and DevOps practices.

• Contribute to technical direction, architecture discussions and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements of the Senior Site Reliability Engineer

• Strong commercial AWS CDK experience is essential. Candidates without AWS CDK experience cannot be considered.

• Proven senior-level experience across Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering or DevOps.

• Strong hands-on AWS experience.

• Strong programming experience with TypeScript or Python, with TypeScript preferred.

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Containerisation experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, ECS or similar.

• Monitoring and observability experience using Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, AppDynamics or similar.

• Strong understanding of cloud security, resilience and infrastructure automation.

• Previous experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.

• AWS Associate certification would be advantageous but is not essential where strong AWS experience can be demonstrated.
