Job Description

About OLIX

AI is growing faster than any technology in history and the explosion in demand has created a massive infrastructure gap; we can no longer build chips or power stations fast enough to keep up. The industry is still leaning on a ten-year-old hardware blueprint that has reached its limit. A new paradigm that is faster and more efficient will be the biggest economic opportunity of the next century and create the most important company of the next decade. The OLIX Decode Accelerator 1 (DX-1) is the first accelerator architected specifically for decode. Rack-scale co-design of logic, data movement, packaging, optics and interconnect enables a step change in system level performance.

The Role

We're hiring a IT Systems Engineer to own the reliability and evolution of the tools every team at OLIX depends on day to day: identity and SSO, device management across Mac and Windows, Google Workspace, and the wider collaboration and business-systems stack including Slack, Notion and Atlassian. As headcount grows, so does the load on these systems, and we need someone to own their architecture and roadmap rather than just keep them running.

You'll be the final escalation point for complex, cross-system problems, and you'll lead company-wide systems projects from scoping through delivery. A significant identity provider and device management migration is on the near-term roadmap, so there's substantial architectural work from day one.

Beyond the core stack, you'll act as OLIX's AI enabler: finding the manual tools and processes worth removing, evaluating tools, and building agents and automations that act as a force multiplier across the business, all while holding a high bar on security and IP protection. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role with the freedom to define how IT and internal systems work here from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the core stack: own the architecture and roadmap for our business-systems stack, including IDP/IAM, Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Atlassian and adjacent HRIS, ATS and finance platforms, and make sure they scale ahead of OLIX's growth.

  • Lead IT and systems projects end to end: take medium-to-large, company-wide projects from scoping through delivery, automating recurring work, streamlining tooling, and improving the day-one and day-to-day experience for every OLIX employee.

  • Be the escalation point: act as the final escalation point for complex, cross-system issues, providing expert-level root cause analysis and implementing architectural changes that stop problems recurring.

  • Build agents and automations: champion AI adoption across the business, partnering with functional teams to design scalable, automated processes and building the tools, scripts and workflows (Google Workspace and Apps Script, IDP APIs) that eliminate manual toil.

  • Own secure onboarding of new tools: partner with InfoSec on SaaS vendor reviews and rollout, so new tools arrive with SSO, SCIM and least-privilege access in place.

  • Raise the bar as you go: find and fix friction or quality gaps in how IT and systems operate without being asked, mentor others, and be a visible example of ownership in the team.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years in IT systems engineering, with a track record of owning systems end to end rather than working tickets within someone else's design.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows and Mac device management, Google Workspace administration, and Google Cloud Identity across users, devices and applications.

  • Deep, hands-on experience with SSO and identity platforms, ideally Okta, OneLogin, JumpCloud. Experience rebuilding or migrating between identity providers is a strong plus given our roadmap.

  • Experience administering SaaS and collaboration tools at company scale, Slack, Notion and Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) in particular.

  • An AI-first mindset: a practical focus on using AI and LLM-powered tools to streamline IT operations, improve user self-service and automate repetitive work, and a habit of building agents that act as force multipliers for the business.

  • Coding and scripting experience in one or more general-purpose languages, plus familiarity with Google Workspace developer tools (Apps Script, Workspace APIs).

  • Solid grasp of IT security fundamentals: role-based access control, least-privilege access, MDM, data security and identity best practice.

  • Proven ownership: a track record of taking ambiguous, medium-to-large problems and driving them to durable resolution without heavy oversight.

Nice to have: exposure to a fast-moving hardware or deep-tech startup, and comfort with infrastructure-as-code-style change management culture.

Compensation & Equity

  • Competitive Salary: Commensurate with your experience, skills, and location

  • Equity & Ownership: Meaningful stock options. You're not just joining the mission; you're owning a piece of it

  • Proximity Bonus: We value your time. To minimise your commute and maximise your life, we offer an annual Living-Local Bonus if your residence is within 20 minutes of the office

  • Retirement Benefits: Employer-contributed retirement plans to help you build long-term financial security.

Due to U.S. export control regulations, candidates' eligibility to work at OLIX depends on their most recent citizenship or permanent residency status. We are generally unable to consider applicants whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence is in certain restricted countries (currently including Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela). Applicants who have subsequently obtained citizenship or permanent residency in another country not subject to these restrictions may still be eligible.
