Job Description

The VDOT ITD Tolling group is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support the Tolling Engineering and Operations team. The role involves Azure cloud engineering, application support, operational support, monitoring, troubleshooting, IAM, security, networking, backup/recovery, and cloud governance. VDOT Tolling Azure Cloud Engine
Required Skills:
  • 3+ years Microsoft Azure administration/engineering
  • 2+ years Microsoft Windows environments (2019+)
  • 2+ years server infrastructure, networking, protocols, firewalls, certificates, and load balancers
  • 2+ years networking/server administration, databases, and cloud environments
  • 2+ years PowerShell and/or Python scripting
  • 2+ years SecretServer privileged access vault administration
  • 1+ year Office 365 and Power Apps
  • 1+ year PCI or similar compliance experience
  • 1+ year enterprise governance model experience
  • 1+ year Single Sign-On and identity administration using Entra ID
  • 1+ year Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and implement cloud resources within the VDOT Tolling Azure environment.
  • Support Azure services and application workloads.
  • Monitor uptime, availability, performance, logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, access, security, application performance, and service issues.
  • Perform Azure Monitor and Log Analytics diagnostics.
  • Support IAM, access reviews, role assignments, and least-privilege evaluations.
  • Manage SecretServer privileged access vaults and credential rotation.
  • Implement backup and recovery using Rubrik.
  • Support incident reviews, production issues, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Define change requests, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
  • Support tolling system integrations, roadway data, financial transactions, and reporting.
  • Manage Key Vaults, secrets, passwords, and certificates.
  • Maintain network/system topology and infrastructure documentation.
  • Work with architects, engineers, managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Support SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud environments.
  • Provide technical guidance and support multiple concurrent projects.
Preferred Skills:
  • Azure certification such as AZ-104 / AZ-305
  • Docker / Kubernetes
  • Azure DevOps / Git / TFS
  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Cloud cost analysis and optimization
  • Key Vault and certificate management
Important Requirements:
  • Candidate must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
  • Offshore contractors are not permitted.
  • Fingerprint-based background check is required.
  • Continuing education may be required to remain current with VDOT technologies.
