Benefits Analyst
Location: Morristown, NJ (Hybrid 4 days onsite), w2 and local candidates only
Duration: 8 months
This role is focused on benefits / leave (FMLA, FLA etc.).
The role will also act as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending intermediate to advanced solutions to Employee human resources issues relating to various programs, including but not limited to Benefits, Payroll, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition/Talent Management, etc.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending intermediate to advanced solutions to employee human resources issues relating to various HR programs and policies, including but not limited to Benefits, Payroll, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition/Talent Management, etc.
- Performs intermediate and interpretive analysis & research related to payroll, benefits, and employment processing. Responsible for timely and accurate processing, audits, and related processes for our internal clients, external benefit carriers, and state/federal compliance requirements.
- Identifies areas requiring specialized, advanced information, or policy interpretation and escalate to People Solutions Manager while maintaining a high-level of awareness of client/employee Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and executes to meet requirements.
- Takes on special projects as assigned in support of the People Resources strategy. Assists with developing, coordinating, and recommending changes for the improvement of process workflow across human resource programs, including all functional areas (but not limited to Benefits, Payroll, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition/Talent Management, etc.).
- Manage employee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, military leave, and state-specific leave requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, HR partners, and third-party administrators throughout the leave process.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws and company policies while maintaining accurate and confidential employee records.
- Monitor leave cases from initiation through closure, ensuring timely communication, documentation, and case management.
- Collaborate with payroll, benefits, and disability vendors to ensure accurate leave pay administration and benefits continuation.
- Comply with all regulations pertaining to BSA, USA PATRIOT ACT, and OFAC. Complete annual BSA training. Report suspicions of criminal activity, or any attempt to avoid BSA reporting requirements on the part of customers or employees, to the AML/BSA Compliance Department.
- Conducts periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies and procedures.
- Contractor will connect with other employees and all levels of management to address and support the HR Service Delivery and HCM Strategy. Additionally, this role will be a partner to manager and resources across Human Resources department to facilitate resolution of employee inquiries as well as perform necessary research, data processing, and auditing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience working with automated multi-state employment processing (payroll, benefits, on-boarding).
- Strong verbal and written client services skills.
- Must possess strong organizational skills with attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines.
- Advanced knowledge of MS office application specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment with ability to collaborate and effectively work across functional teams.
Education and Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 yrs experience related to Human Resources (employment, benefits and/or payroll) experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources (or equivalent in education and experience).
