Job Description

## REQUIRED Strong experience in administering Linux servers (Ubuntu, or Debian)

  • Solid command of the Linux internals you touch day to day: systemd, package management, filesystems and LVM, users and permissions
  • Troubleshooting skills at the OS level: reading logs (journald, syslog), and using performance and diagnostic tools such as top/htop, iostat, df, lsof and journalctl
  • Hardening and security: SSH, sudo policies
  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, NAT, DNS and DHCP
  • Version control with Git
  • Clear written documentation and runbooks
  • Ability to take part in an on-call rotation ## Nice to Have (NOT REQUIRED) - **Kubernetes:** deploying and running clusters, plus experience with Helm, ingress controllers and **troubleshooting pods** and networking
  • **Terraform:** managing state, provisioning on-prem infrastructure as code
  • **Ansible:** managing inventory and writing/reading playbooks and roles
  • **GitOps:** understanding of GitOps principles and FluxCD
  • Containers: Docker or Podman
  • Experience with load balancers, reverse proxies (Nginx, HAProxy) and VPNs
  • Monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana
  • Backup and recovery planning, including tested restores
  • Hands-on network troubleshooting with tcpdump, Wireshark, traceroute, dig
  • Network/Security: firewalld/iptables/nftables, and patch management
  • Scripting in Bash; Python is a plus
  • Virtualization expirience
  • Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, LFCS, CKA, CCNA or HashiCorp Terraform Associate ## Soft Skills - Works independently and prioritizes well during incidents
  • Explains technical issues clearly to people who aren't technical
  • Automates repeated work instead of doing it by hand
