Application Architect

Job Summary

Client is looking for an experienced Application Architect with strong expertise in API integration, application architecture, and enterprise application development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and high-performance application architectures, integrating enterprise systems through APIs, and providing technical leadership across development teams.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, API gateways, cloud platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available application architectures.
• Lead the architecture and development of API integrations between internal applications, third-party platforms, and enterprise systems.
• Define API standards, integration patterns, architectural guidelines, and best practices.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and, where applicable, SOAP-based integrations.
• Architect microservices-based applications and distributed systems.
• Work with API management platforms and API gateways to manage authentication, authorization, security, monitoring, and API lifecycle management.
• Develop integration strategies for cloud-based and on-premises applications.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Evaluate existing applications and recommend modernization, integration, and optimization strategies.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct architecture reviews, and mentor development teams.
• Troubleshoot complex integration issues and ensure reliable data exchange across systems.
• Establish documentation standards for APIs, architecture diagrams, integration flows, and technical specifications. 

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in application development, solution architecture, or enterprise application architecture.
• Strong experience designing and implementing API integrations across enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, HTTP, and web services.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience with API gateways and API management platforms such as Apigee, MuleSoft, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or Kong.
• Knowledge of API security, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and related authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with databases, messaging systems, and asynchronous integrations.
• Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, high availability, and security best practices.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
