General Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support a diverse range of growth initiatives across both electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) platforms. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the design, development, validation, and release of powertrain systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of powertrain system design and mechanical vehicle architecture, along with experience in requirements development, design validation, risk management, supplier engagement, and engineering change management. The role requires a passion for continuous learning, technical problem solving, and delivering robust engineering solutions in accordance with engineering excellence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in one or more areas of mechanical vehicle architecture, including:
  • Electric motors and e-drive systems
  • Internal combustion engines (ICE)
  • CVTs
  • Transaxles and related powertrain systems
  • Develop, maintain, and execute vehicle and component-level mechanical specifications and qualification plans.
  • Lead and support engineering activities related to:
  • Product requirements and specifications
  • Risk analysis
  • DFMEA
  • DVP&R
  • Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Design and qualification activities
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers, design teams, manufacturing, testing, quality, and other cross-functional organizations to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Apply effective project management methodologies to establish predictable outcomes and achieve department and program objectives.
  • Identify and remove technical and organizational roadblocks to accelerate project execution and implementation.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and engineering strategies that support long-term business objectives and competitive advantage.
  • Establish and promote a culture of traceable test acceptance criteria, with a strong focus on product reliability, design confidence, and objective engineering validation.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to design engineers, laboratory technicians, and other engineering team members.
  • Develop a strong understanding of applicable industry and regulatory standards and influence product development strategies to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to achieve program milestones, deliverables, and launch targets.
  • Independently manage complex and large-scale engineering projects, balancing technical, cost, quality, and timing objectives.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, 9-Step, root-cause analysis, and other appropriate engineering tools.
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for customer-related technical issues, coordinating investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
