Job Description

Our client in Burton Upon Trent is going through a rapid period of growth and are now seeking an experienced Senior Production / Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of production test & development capability and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

This is a hands-on role focused on test equipment, process improvement, fault-finding, and supporting the introduction of new products into production.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • The Senior Production Engineer will be managing the day-to-day operation of the production test laboratory.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production test equipment.
  • The Senior Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer will be using CAD to design and develop test rigs, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing tooling.
  • Supporting root cause investigations and resolving production test failures.
  • Developing new test methods and improving existing test processes.
  • Supporting new product introduction and production readiness activities.
  • Providing technical support for electro-mechanical assembly and manufacturing teams.
  • Assisting with automation, data capture, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, work instructions, and test procedures.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience as a Production Engineer, Test Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Development Engineer, Electro-Mechanical Engineer or a similar role.
  • Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills to validate new materials for all company products whilst undertaking various environment testing.
  • Experience maintaining and improving production test equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience designing or modifying test rigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
  • Familiarity with test equipment
  • The ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to drive due to company location
