Job Overview:
The Senior UX/Interaction Designer will play a pivotal role in leading the design and definition of user experiences as part of the Core UX team. This team is responsible for integrating human-centered practices to enhance the digital customer experience across all stages of the travel journey. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic, passionate, and innovative designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Visualize ideas using professional design tools, sticky notes, sketch boards, and whiteboard markers to rapidly iterate and move through ideation stages.
• Initiate and respond to ideas for innovation and improvements based on research, analysis, and competitive reviews.
• Identify user needs and business requirements to inform design decisions.
• Ensure digital customer touchpoints align with user experience and brand standards.
• Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions for web and mobile platforms.
• Design next-generation navigation schemes, patterns, components, and templates for a consistent and dynamic customer experience.
• Create low and high-fidelity interactive prototypes using a rapid, iterative, and collaborative process.
• Collaborate with usability researchers to design test plans and iterate designs based on user testing feedback.
• Translate usability research findings into actionable design improvements.
• Produce detailed design specifications, including process flows, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, and prototypes.
• Present design work to the UX team, product team, and executives for review and feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners throughout the design process.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 5+ years of professional UX design experience required; 8+ years preferred.
• Strong UX design experience for web and mobile applications.
• Proficiency in visual design and creating micro-interactions.
• Innovative design approach with a strong focus on accessibility standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Solid understanding of web design principles and front-end web technologies.
• Experience in writing detailed design specifications for developers.
• Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Portfolio showcasing design for web-based applications, mobile applications, and consumer-facing websites.
• Understanding of responsive design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and Ajax methods.
• Knowledge of Content Management Systems, Web Services, and APIs.

Preferred Skills/Certifications:

• Master's degree in UX design.
• Expertise in accessibility standards.

Additional Information:

• Preferred work hours: 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
• Work location: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite per week) in Chicago, Illinois.
• Travel requirement: 10-20%, with reimbursement for travel expenses.
• Interview process: 1-3 video interviews with the UX team. Candidates must provide a portfolio before the interview for screening.
• Contract-to-hire: No possibility of conversion to a full-time role.
