Hiring: Front-End Tech Lead (UI & Accessibility Expert)
 
We are looking for a senior-level Front-End Tech Lead to drive technical architecture, set engineering standards, and champion web accessibility across our enterprise front-end systems.
 
Work Location: Des Moines, IA (Local candidates only)
 
Work Arrangement: Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead front-end development using Angular, SASS, and HTML while establishing architecture, coding standards, and roadmaps.
  • Accessibility Compliance: Champion accessibility strategy to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA, Section 508, Title I, and Title II standards.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct hands-on accessibility audits using automated tools, screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), and manual keyboard navigation.
  • Design Systems & Engineering: Implement the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and State Design Systems while optimizing front-end CI/CD pipelines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Mentor front-end developers, lead code reviews, and integrate APIs seamlessly with Java backend teams.

Key Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Mastery: 8+ years of expert experience in Angular, SASS, and HTML.
  • Accessibility Certification: Active CPACC, WAS, or equivalent certification required.
  • Design Systems: Proven experience implementing design systems (USWDS strongly preferred).
  • Accessibility Testing: Hands-on experience with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and automated tools.
  • Leadership & Strategy: 8+ years leading front-end engineering teams, mentoring developers, and driving CI/CD workflows.
  • Public Sector/Security: Knowledge of government security guidelines, sensitive data handling, and public-sector environments (Highly Desired).
