APPLICATION SUPPORT ENGINEER – AWS / SNOWFLAKE / SQL

Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL | Hybrid | 12-Month Contract

IMPORTANT CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must currently reside within commuting distance of Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL and be available to work onsite a minimum of 2 days per week. Onsite requirements may increase in the future.

This is a direct W-2 contract position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future employment sponsorship.

NO C2C, 1099, subcontracting, third-party agencies, staffing firms, or third-party/employer-sponsored candidates. We are only considering candidates applying directly on their own behalf who can work directly on our W-2.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to provide Tier 2 production/application support for cloud-based enterprise applications.

This is a hands-on technical support role requiring strong experience with AWS, SQL, relational databases, Snowflake, API troubleshooting, application monitoring, and scripting/automation.

The successful candidate will investigate and resolve production application issues, troubleshoot UI/API/data-flow problems, monitor application availability and performance, and develop scripts and automation to proactively identify and resolve application issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Triage and resolve application support tickets within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Investigate and resolve critical application and technical issues.
• Troubleshoot UI, API, database, and data-flow issues.
• Perform application failure analysis, testing, and root-cause investigation.
• Proactively manage issue resolution and provide documentation and follow-up to requestors.
• Monitor application availability and performance.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to detect and correct application issues.
• Develop monitoring and alerting capabilities to proactively identify application problems.
• Troubleshoot APIs and application integrations.
• Query and troubleshoot relational databases and Snowflake.
• Support cloud-based applications running in AWS environments.
• Use monitoring and observability tools to identify performance and availability issues.
• Support high-availability application environments.
• Participate in off-shift and weekend support calls when required.
• Work with technical teams and business stakeholders to resolve application issues.
• Assist with dealer communications when needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2–4 years of hands-on Application Support, Production Support, or Tier 2 Application Support experience.
• 2+ years supporting cloud-based applications.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience supporting relational databases.
• Hands-on experience querying and troubleshooting Snowflake.
• Experience troubleshooting APIs.
• Experience troubleshooting UI, API, and data-flow issues.
• Experience with application availability and performance monitoring.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Grafana, ThousandEyes, or similar.
• Experience with Python and/or PowerShell scripting for automation.
• Working knowledge of JSON.
• Understanding of high-availability architecture.
• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts related to application availability and performance.
• Background in data management, data engineering, or data operations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD or ADO pipeline frameworks.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Candidates must have demonstrated hands-on application support experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Location: Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid – currently 2 days per week onsite
• Onsite requirements could increase to 5 days per week in the future
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Contract Duration: 12 months
• Some off-shift and weekend support may be required
