Instructional Designer

Title: Instructional Designer
Duration: 12+ months
Rate: $65-67/hour W2
Location: Livermore, CA (Hybrid – 20% onsite for meetings)

Responsibilities:

·        Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) and on-the-job training.

·        Perform detailed task analysis for hydro utility workers performing complex, high-risk, hands-on work.

·        Create hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, and scenario-based learning materials.

·        Develop assessments, simulations, videos and other instructional media to support applied skills development and job performance.

·        Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of safety requirements and remote learning environments.

·        Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.

·        Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, train the trainer, and pilot.

·        Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.

Requirements:

·        Must currently reside in Northern California

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        3+ years of instructional designer experience developing instructor-led training for complex, hands-on skills; such as electrical utilities or related industries.

·        Skilled in technical writing

·        Proficiency with MS Office tools (PPT, Word, Teams, etc.)

·        Experience with Task Analysis

·        Quarterly travel required with potential overnight stays

·        Preferred: Experience with hydroelectric operations, mechanical engineering, or machining
