Infrastructure Cloud Engineer (Auckland, New Zealand)

As an Infrastructure Cloud Engineer at Avanade, you will design, build and support cloud infrastructure solutions for complex enterprise programmes delivered in New Zealand. Based in Auckland, you will work within a multidisciplinary delivery team to provision and manage Azure infrastructure, ensuring environments are secure, reliable and optimised for performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage Azure cloud infrastructure for enterprise client programmes
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform
• Configure and manage Azure networking components including Virtual Networks, NSGs, VPN Gateways and ExpressRoute
• Provision and administer Azure platform services including virtual machines, storage, databases and container services
• Implement cloud security controls including Azure Policy, RBAC, Microsoft Defender and Azure Monitor
• Support CI/CD pipeline development and automation using Azure DevOps
• Monitor infrastructure performance, respond to incidents and implement improvements
• Document infrastructure designs, runbooks and operational procedures
• Collaborate with application architects, security architects and development teams across the programme

• You are a skilled cloud engineer with strong hands-on experience delivering Azure infrastructure solutions
• You are detail-oriented and committed to delivering secure, reliable and well-documented infrastructure
• You bring experience in scripting and automation to streamline infrastructure provisioning and operations
• You work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and communicate clearly with colleagues and clients
• You likely have 4+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure or IT engineering roles

Technical skills & experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure services: Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, App Services
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code: Bicep, ARM Templates or Terraform
• Experience with Azure networking: VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, Load Balancers, Application Gateway
• Familiarity with Azure security services: Azure AD / Entra ID, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Key Vault
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps or equivalent
• Scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for automation

Preferred certifications

• AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator
• AZ-305: Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions (desirable)

You likely have 4-8 years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering or DevOps roles.
