Job Description

Developer - 12 Months - Outside IR35 - Remote

Day Rate - Circa 455

Harvey Nash's public sector client are currently looking to recruit a Developer to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 12 month period. This role is predominantly remote, with the expectation you are willing to travel to the office when required.

Assignment Description:

An experienced developer with solid commercial AWS development experience is required to accelerate the organisation's move away from their legacy finance systems.

The focus of the work will be the collaborative development of new serverless microservices using AWS Lambda functions and Typescript/JavaScript.

Essential Skills:

Significant commercial experience in the following technology:

  • AWS including:
  • CDK
  • Serverless (Lambda)
  • S3
  • API Gateway
  • Cloud Formation
  • Typescript (or modern JavaScript)

Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:

  • Making excellent quality software with other people.
  • Working with business stakeholders, to understand the context, and to focus on

delivering value.

  • Design and implementation of solutions using a service-based and serverless

architecture.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working in the Agile delivery models - such as Scrum and/or Kanban
  • Developing within GDS or Digital First (or similar) quality standards
  • Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes
  • Formal XP engineering techniques, including Pair Programming and Test Driven

Development

  • Defining infrastructure-as-code

Desirable Skills:

  • Human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices
  • Testing tools and frameworks, e.g. Cypress
  • Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested and high-quality interfaces
