Job Title: Business Analyst

Location: Alexandria, VA (onsite)

Clearance Required: Secret Clearance

Full time/ Exempt

Overview
Syneren Technologies is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Analyst with 3+ years of experience to support the modernization and maintenance of legacy Department of War (DoW) applications. This role is central to our team, requiring hands-on involvement in process reengineering, requirements definition for high-volume data applications, software testing, and direct stakeholder engagement within an Agile framework.

Core Responsibilities

Process Reengineering & Modernization

Lead process-mapping workshops, analyze existing workflows (using methods like value stream mapping), and develop modernization plans for legacy applications. Propose reengineering solutions and quantify their potential ROI.

Requirements & Documentation

Gather, define, and comprehensively document business and functional requirements. Interpret complex business rules and translate them into actionable user stories while meticulously maintaining the product backlog and all related process artifacts (SOPs, flowcharts, swimlanes).

Knowledge Management & Training

Manage and organize application-specific SharePoint sites, continuously auditing the Knowledge Management (KM) repository to ensure all documentation, SOPs, and training materials are current and accurate. Provide hands-on user training and develop online help documentation.

Software Testing & UAT

Actively conduct testing of DoW applications to ensure they are ready for deployment and align with user requirements. Provide direct, hands-on support and guidance to end-users throughout the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase.

Agile Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, product owners, and development teams. Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), manage project risks, and provide Tier 3 support for assigned applications.

Qualifications & Requirements

Mandatory Certifications: CompTIA Security+ (Meets IAT Level II compliance) and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance.

Required Experience: 3+ years working as a Business Analyst in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Highly Desired / Preferred: Advanced degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Systems Engineering, or a related field. Experience with high-volume data handling applications. Experience with integrating AI features into legacy application architectures. Proven experience in process documentation (SOPs, swim lanes), business rule interpretation, and hands-on software testing. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with the SAFe Agile framework and/or SAFe certifications (SSM, SASM).

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
