PYTHON DEVELOPER

We are seeking a Python Developer with experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications and data engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong Python programming skills, experience developing APIs and backend services, and hands-on experience with Apache Airflow/Astronomer for workflow orchestration and Starburst/Trino for distributed data access and query optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
Develop and support RESTful APIs and backend components.
Design, build, monitor, and maintain data pipelines and workflow orchestration solutions using Apache Airflow and/or Astronomer.
Develop and optimize data access, integration, and query solutions leveraging Starburst (Trino) and related data platforms.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards.
Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and developers to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Create and execute unit tests and support integration and user acceptance testing activities.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects, data pipeline failures, and performance issues.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices.
Work with relational databases to develop and optimize data access solutions.
Support application and data pipeline deployments and production issue resolution.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
3+ years of professional experience developing software applications using Python.
2+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting workflows using Apache Airflow and/or Astronomer.
1+ year of hands-on experience working with Starburst (Trino), including developing, optimizing, or supporting distributed SQL queries and data access solutions.
3+ years of experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
3+ years of experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
Experience using Git or other source control systems.
Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
Experience debugging, testing, and supporting production applications and data pipelines.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Must be able to work onsite at the client location 3 days per week in Charlotte, NC, New York City, NY, or Northern New Jersey.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience deploying and supporting Astronomer-managed Airflow environments.
Experience integrating data from cloud data warehouses and lakehouse platforms.
Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with automated testing frameworks.
Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.
