Job Description

Duration: 3+ years
Location: Lexington, MA 02421 - (onsite 2-3 days per week other remote)

Description: Plans and installs upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance. Demonstrates database technical functionality, such as performance, security, and reliability. Identify and correct deviations from database development standards. Creates and enforces database development standards. Sets up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes. Documents and communicates database schemas, using accepted notations. Develops or maintains archived procedures, procedural codes, or queries for applications. Develops load-balancing processes to eliminate down time for backup processes. Develops data models for applications, metadata tables, views, or related database structures. Tests changes to database applications or systems. Provides technical support to junior staff or clients. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance. Monitors and reports systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately. Designs databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability. Designs database applications, such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access of the generic database structure. Collaborates with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements. Develops database architectural strategies at the modeling, design, and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements. Develops and documents database architectures.

Background/Need: The Financial Services Department's mission is to provide Finance, Travel, and Property services where and when it matters most to support world-class research and development by lab. F$D is undergoing some changes to their accounting practices that require additional resources to support both system application and policy changes.

Responsibilities:

  • The developer will actively advise and participate in the architecture and hands-on development of application using Power Platform
  • The developer will be expected to lead all aspects of design and development of the new application, which is expected to be flexible and scalable
  • The developer will also be expected to create system documentation and enterprise-level Standard Operating Procedures documents
  • Developing applications from the ground up utilizing skills including object-oriented programming Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, databases (SQL), and Power BI
  • Designing, developing, and configuring scalable web applications
  • Creating system documentation and standard operating procedures for enterprise web development
  • Collaborating with the team in translating user stories and requirements into functional code
  • Identifying critical dependencies and gaps, solving technical challenges, and implementing new enhancements
  • Supporting the deployment process including post-deployment review of logs for errors
  • Collaborating with other team members to support estimation and requirements finalization efforts
  • Defining and developing methods for robust system monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Working and Training staff on how to troubleshoot and build solutions
  • Following all best practices for version control, CI / CD, and development management of the system.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate should have extensive hands-on PowerApps, Power Automate, and Power BI development experience and be well-versed in SDLC, the complete MS Solutions stack, and application security.
  • 5+ years of IT systems development experience, with primary focus in the Microsoft solution stack and Cloud technologies
  • 5+ Years of experience and in-depth understanding of the capabilities in Power Apps, Power Automate, and Data Verse
  • 2+ years of experience in developing both Model-driven and Canvas Apps
  • Knowledge of using PowerFx with PowerApps
  • 2+ years of experience and knowledge of SharePoint Online features for collaboration and business process automation
  • 3+ years of experience building solutions for the Power Platform
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions within secured research environment, including working within mission-driven governance, cybersecurity, data-handling, and organizational constraints. FedRamp experience required.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and implementing production-oriented generative AI, intelligent automation, and low-code solutions, including integration of AI capabilities into enterprise workflows, applications, and business processes.
  • Architect-level experience across Microsoft Azure and AWS, including CI/CD, DevSecOps, application and integration architecture, combined with product ownership experience translating business and mission requirements into technical roadmaps and delivered capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • A strong applied knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform services, including an in-depth understanding of its capabilities, boundaries, and constraints
  • Experience with Data Visualization, Business Intelligence tools inside of Power BI
  • A basic understanding of authentication, security, and application lifecycle management (ALM) practices for the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong technical leadership and attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Microsoft Certified Power Platform Solution Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Power Apps and Dynamics 365 Solution Architect Expert

Others:

  • Clearance: Interim clearance is sufficient for start.
  • Work Location: This person should expect to be onsite 2-3 days per week to collaborate with the team.
  • Interview Process: Interview process will be two rounds: Initial prescreening and then a second-round wider audience; preference for the second-round interview to be IN PERSON but they will do Zoom if needed.
