Finance Business Partner – SAP FICO

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner with strong SAP FICO knowledge to serve as a strategic technology partner to the Finance organization.

This role will work closely with Finance leadership and business stakeholders to understand business needs, define technology solutions, and ensure successful delivery of Finance-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Finance processes and SAP FICO, combined with excellent stakeholder management, communication, project leadership, and delivery management skills.

This is not a primarily hands-on SAP configuration role. The successful candidate will use their SAP FICO knowledge to understand requirements, challenge and shape solutions, communicate effectively with Finance and IT teams, and guide initiatives through successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Finance leadership and business stakeholders to understand business objectives, challenges, and technology needs.

• Serve as the primary IT liaison between the Finance organization and technology teams.

• Translate Finance business requirements into practical SAP and technology solutions.

• Leverage strong SAP FICO knowledge to define solutions and participate in meaningful discussions with Finance teams, SAP teams, architects, and technical resources.

• Lead and manage Finance technology initiatives from requirements through implementation and delivery.

• Coordinate across business, IT, SAP, vendors, and other technology teams to ensure successful project execution.

• Facilitate requirements gathering, solution discussions, prioritization, and decision-making with Finance stakeholders.

• Help evaluate proposed solutions and ensure they align with Finance processes, business objectives, and overall technology strategy.

• Manage project scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, issues, and stakeholder communications.

• Provide guidance and oversight to SAP functional and technical teams without being responsible for the majority of hands-on configuration.

• Build strong relationships with Finance leaders and establish credibility as a trusted technology advisor.

• Identify opportunities to improve Finance processes through technology and automation.

• Support change management, testing, implementation, and post-production activities as needed.

• Communicate complex SAP and technology concepts clearly to Finance stakeholders and translate business needs clearly to IT teams.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience working in Finance technology, IT Business Partner, SAP Finance, or a related role.

• Strong understanding of SAP FICO and core Finance processes.

• Experience working directly with Finance business stakeholders and leadership.

• Strong understanding of Finance processes such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Controlling, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, and financial reporting.

• Demonstrated experience translating Finance business requirements into SAP or technology solutions.

• Strong project and delivery management experience.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to lead discussions between Finance, IT, SAP functional teams, technical teams, and vendors.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into practical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving as an IT Business Partner for Finance.

• Experience leading SAP FICO-related transformation or implementation initiatives.

• Experience working in a large enterprise environment with complex Finance processes.

• Experience managing cross-functional technology programs and multiple stakeholders.

• SAP FICO certification is a plus.

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA is a plus.

• Experience with Finance transformation, process optimization, or automation is a plus.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who can sit down with a CFO, Controller, Finance Director, or Finance leadership team and understand what the business is trying to accomplish, while also having enough SAP FICO expertise to understand how that requirement translates into a technology solution.

This person should be comfortable asking the right questions, defining the solution, managing delivery, and coordinating with SAP functional and technical teams.

Hands-on SAP configuration experience is not the primary requirement. Strong SAP FICO knowledge and the ability to use that knowledge in business and solution discussions are much more important.
