Contract
Role Summary
Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialists to own the full software asset lifecycle for an assigned publisher portfolio, spanning compliance, license desk, and procurement. The specialist carries each publisher from entitlement and compliance through renewal and purchase, single-threaded to eliminate handoffs that drive delays and audit exposure, with a primary emphasis on compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and defend the Effective License Position (ELP) for assigned publishers, reconciling entitlements against deployment and consumption.
- Own compliance end-to-end: audit readiness, true-up exposure, and remediation of over- and under-licensing.
- Support internal and external audits with source-traceable entitlement and usage evidence.
- Operate ServiceNow SAM Pro for discovery, normalization, and reconciliation and maintain accurate license, entitlement, and contract records.
- Analyze consumption to drive reclamation and cost optimization.
- Own the renewal calendar and drive renewals to close ahead of expiry, routing requisitions and approvals within required lead times.
- Evaluate proposals, support negotiation, and manage contract terms and co-termination.
- Report accurately on inventory, consumption, compliance, and renewal status, and escalate risk early.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 4 to 8 years in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or software procurement and licensing.
- Demonstrated ability to construct and interpret an Effective License Position (ELP).
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro, or a comparable platform such as Flexera or Snow License Manager.
- Direct experience owning software renewals or contracts.
- Hands-on exposure to at least one complex publisher (Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, or SAP), plus a strong grasp of perpetual, subscription, and SaaS licensing.
- Experience with procurement tooling such as Ariba, Coupa, or ServiceNow.
- Proven ability to work in ambiguous, low-documentation environments and build a working process independently.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills and good stakeholder communication.
- US-person status required.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist, SAM.
- Exposure to audit defense and vendor true-up negotiations.
