Job Summary
Western Midstream is currently seeking a Corporate Finance Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will gain exposure to the midstream energy business, our people, and our culture while supporting the Corporate Planning team. Through project-based assignments and day-to-day planning activities, the intern will develop an understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, business performance analysis, and strategic decision-making within a publicly traded midstream energy company. The intern will work closely with Corporate Planning team members and receive direct coaching and mentorship while contributing to meaningful projects that support the company's planning and forecasting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Support Corporate Planning activities, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and long-range planning. Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and key business drivers. Assist with the development and enhancement of financial models, forecasting tools, and reporting processes. Participate in special projects focused on business process improvement, reporting optimization, and strategic analysis. Prepare analysis, develop presentations, and present recommendations to management and executive stakeholders.
Partner with Commercial Development, Corporate Development, Project Management Organization, Treasury, Accounting, Operations, and other departments to gain exposure to the midstream energy business and support cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
Sophomore or Junior status in Fall of 2026 with overall GPA of 3.25+.
Demonstrated interest in finance, economics, analytics, or the energy industry.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Self-motivated with demonstrated academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular, leadership, or professional activities.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Additional experience with Oracle EPM, SAP, Power BI, or other reporting systems and analytical tools is a plus.
Education
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Relocation
This position is not eligible for relocation.
Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.
Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the Company's flexible work schedule (in office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; work from home Wednesday and Friday as approved by the hiring manager).
- Summer internship program runs for approximately 10 weeks from June thru August.
