Job Description

The Arc of Ocean County is looking for a Residential Assistant Supervisor to help guide staff and support the daily operation of a community home serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is a great fit for someone who is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility while remaining closely connected to the people and team they support.

Working alongside the Residential Program Manager, you'll help maintain consistent services, coach Direct Support Professionals, address day-to-day challenges, and promote an environment where individuals can develop skills and exercise greater independence. Your leadership will help keep the home running smoothly while ensuring employees have the guidance they need to succeed.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour, plus evening/weekend shift differentials and overtime opportunities

Where You'll Make an Impact

Keep the Home Running Smoothly

  • Assist the Residential Program Manager with the daily operation of the home.
  • Provide shift-level leadership and assume management responsibilities when circumstances require.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, welcoming, and person-centered residential environment.
  • Respond to operational concerns and changing priorities while maintaining continuity of services.

Guide & Develop Staff

  • Provide Direct Support Professionals with day-to-day direction, coaching, and encouragement.
  • Reinforce agency expectations while building a workplace culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, training, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate shift coverage.
  • Participate in staff feedback, coaching, and performance improvement activities.

Support Individual Choice & Independence

  • Encourage individuals to strengthen daily living skills, pursue personal goals, and participate in meaningful community activities.
  • Help carry out Individual Habilitation Plans and individualized behavioral support strategies.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team members, families, and outside providers to support positive outcomes.
  • Promote dignity, personal choice, and independence in all aspects of residential support.

Maintain Quality & Compliance

  • Review program records and documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Assist with medical appointment coordination, medication systems, and health-related services.
  • Help ensure services follow agency policies and applicable DDD, DHS, DCF, and licensing requirements.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, quality improvement activities, and corrective action efforts as needed.

Assist With Program Administration

  • Help manage household purchasing and monitor program-related expenses.
  • Complete reports, records, and other administrative assignments within established deadlines.
  • Maintain effective communication with program leadership and respond appropriately to operational needs.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of residential experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise employees while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and adjust schedules based on operational needs.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with residential support services.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
