Lead NDT Inspector | Portsmouth, VA | Hybrid We're hiring for a highly respected marine surface preparation and painting contractor, renowned for its mobile workforce capable of delivering quality products on time across every U.S. port. The Role • Provide supervisory oversight and technical guidance to junior NDT inspectors. • Perform VT, UT, MT, and PT inspections on surface ship and submarine structures and piping. • Act as a subject matter expert in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for various projects. • Review technical work instructions for accuracy and completeness. • Conduct periodic surveillances of trade workers and NDT inspectors to identify trends and prevent non-conformance. • Ensure NDT equipment on job sites is in good working order and properly calibrated. What You'll Need • Qualified NDT Level II inspector in accordance with NAVSEA requirements. • 5+ years of NAVSEA NDT certification in Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT), and Ultrasonic Shearwave Testing. • Experience with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding is highly preferred. • Ability to interpret technical documents, follow instructions, and work a dependable ethic. • Strong understanding of welding joint design and fit-up requirements. • Willingness to work 40+ hours per week and meet physical requirements for working in various environments.
