Job Description

Lead NDT Inspector | Portsmouth, VA | Hybrid

We're hiring for a highly respected marine surface preparation and painting contractor, renowned for its mobile workforce capable of delivering quality products on time across every U.S. port. This organization is committed to rigorous safety and quality programs and possesses the financial strength to support demanding client preservation needs.

The Role

  • Provide supervisory oversight and technical guidance to junior NDT inspectors.
  • Perform VT, UT, MT, and PT inspections on surface ship and submarine structures and piping.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for various projects.
  • Review technical work instructions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct periodic surveillances of trade workers and NDT inspectors to identify trends and prevent non-conformance.
  • Ensure NDT equipment on job sites is in good working order and properly calibrated.

What You'll Need

  • Qualified NDT Level II inspector in accordance with NAVSEA requirements.
  • 5+ years of NAVSEA NDT certification in Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT), and Ultrasonic Shearwave Testing.
  • Experience with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, follow instructions, and work a dependable ethic.
  • Strong understanding of welding joint design and fit-up requirements.
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours per week and meet physical requirements for working in various environments.
