Technical Writer - ServiceNow with Security Clearance

The Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), provides comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services supporting approximately 2,000 end users across more than 60 global locations. OCIO ensures the delivery, sustainment, and evolution of IT capabilities essential to the OIG mission, including database administration, storage management, application services, mobile device management, IT asset management, network transport, domain services, and service desk operations.

The Technical Writer develops, maintains, organizes, and contr ols technical, operational, programmatic, and user-facing documentation supporting ServiceNow platform sustainment, modernization, solution delivery, and knowledge transfer. This role works closely with stakeholders to convert complex technical information into clear, accurate, consistent, and usable documentation. Responsibilities

• Convert complex technical information into clear, accurate, consistent, and user-friendly documentation.
• Collaborate closely with architects, developers, engineers, business analysts, QA specialists, security personnel, project managers, OCM/training specialists, and Government SMEs to ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with technical solutions.
• Support documentation needs throughout the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ensure all documentation remains current as ServiceNow capabilities, processes, configurations, and solutions evolve.
• Maintain documentation standards and best practices to support communication and knowledge sharing across the organization. Qualifications
• Active Secret clearance.
• IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• 4+ years' experience developing and maintaining technical documentation for complex IT systems or platforms.
• Ability to interpret and translate technical information from architects, developers, engineers, and other SMEs into clear and useful documentation.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar enterprise platforms (preferred).
• Strong writing, editing, and organization skills with attention to clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
• Experience supporting documentation activities across the SDLC.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualification

• Experience creating documentation specifically for ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, or custom applications.
• Understanding of ITIL principles and how they apply to ServiceNow workflows.
• Familiarity with federal government environments, compliance requirements, and documentation standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
• Experience using documentation management tools or platforms such as Confluence, SharePoint, or Git-based repositories.

Work Schedule: This opportunity may offer hybrid and/or remote flexibility, providing options to work onsite, remotely, or a combination of both based on business and team requirements.
