Quick Overview
Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Health Sensor Test Engineer to support validation, characterization, and data collection for next-generation biometric and health sensor modules (PPG, ECG, cEDA). In this role, you will work closely with hardware sensor engineers and internal teams to set up lab equipment, execute test protocols, proctor human participant data collection, and analyze large datasets using Python to drive engineering research and improve sensor technology performance.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Test Execution & Lab Management: Set up, calibrate, and maintain validation test environments, fixtures, lab tools, and test devices within a hardware R&D lab.
Biometric Sensor Validation: Collaborate with sensor engineers on New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), and debug workflows for PPG, ECG, and cEDA health sensors.
Human Participant Data Collection: Flash device firmware, verify QA device readiness, and proctor live data collection sessions on human participants following strict protocols.
Data Processing & Scripting: Write and execute Python/Colab data collection and processing scripts to analyze large datasets, log build/test metrics into central databases, and generate technical summaries.
Hardware Rework & Troubleshooting: Assist with the assembly, maintenance, repair, and precision rework of test fixtures and prototype devices; report device or protocol issues and assist with root-cause debug.
Process Documentation: Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test protocols, and continuous improvement feedback to refine data collection processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical lab experience.
Hands-On Electronics: Demonstrated experience in hardware R&D lab operations, test fixture setup, device flashing/rework, and electronics troubleshooting.
Data & Scripting Skills: Experience handling large datasets using Python and Google Colab (or Jupyter Notebooks).
Productivity Tools: Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) or MS Office for reporting and tracking.
Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail in protocol execution, participant proctoring, and data organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Working experience with embedded systems and microcontroller environments.
Background in health/biometric sensing technologies (PPG, ECG, cEDA, GSR, or optical sensors).
Ability to author detailed test SOPs and provide actionable feedback to hardware design engineers.
