Job Description

Electrical Project Manager - Ready to Make the Step Up?

There comes a point where gaining more responsibility means finding a business willing to give you the opportunity.

You might already be supporting the delivery of electrical projects, managing subcontractors, coordinating works on site or working alongside an experienced Project Manager.

The next step is taking greater ownership.

Our client is a well-established, nationally recognised Building Services contractor experiencing significant growth across the South West. With a strong pipeline of secured projects and continued investment in the Bristol team, they are looking to appoint a Junior Electrical Project Manager who wants to develop into a senior project delivery professional.

This is not a role where you'll simply be given a project and left to get on with it.

You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers and senior operational staff, gradually taking greater responsibility as your experience develops.

The Company

Our client is one of the UK's most respected Building Services contractors, delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects across healthcare, education, commercial and public sector developments.

What makes them different is the culture.

They've created a supportive, collaborative environment where people are encouraged to develop and progress rather than simply being expected to deliver project after project.

The South West operation is continuing to grow, creating an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career within project management.

The Role

As Junior Electrical Project Manager, you'll support the delivery of electrical building services projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

Working alongside an experienced project team, you'll become increasingly involved in:

  • Project planning and programming
  • Procurement of materials and subcontract packages
  • Electrical design coordination
  • Managing subcontractors and site teams
  • Monitoring programme and project progress
  • Health, safety and quality
  • Commercial and cost awareness
  • Client and consultant meetings
  • Testing, commissioning and handover

You'll gain exposure to the complete project lifecycle, with the intention that you progressively take ownership of larger packages and ultimately your own projects.

Projects are predominantly based across Bristol and the surrounding area, providing a more sustainable work-life balance than many Building Services roles.

Why This Opportunity?

This role is about progression.

The business isn't looking for the finished article.

They're looking for someone with a strong electrical foundation, good site or project experience and the ambition to develop into a fully-fledged Project Manager.

You'll have experienced people around you who can support your development while still giving you enough responsibility to progress.

For someone currently working as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Electrical Site Manager or Electrical Supervisor, this could be the opportunity that bridges the gap into full project management.

You'll benefit from:

  • Genuine progression into Project Management
  • Support from experienced Project Managers and senior leadership
  • Exposure to larger and more complex projects
  • Involvement throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Predominantly local projects
  • A strong pipeline of secured work
  • A supportive and established regional team
  • Long-term career opportunities as the South West business expands
The Requirements

You don't need to already be an experienced Project Manager.

We'd be interested in speaking with individuals currently working as a:

  • Junior Electrical Project Manager
  • Assistant Electrical Project Manager
  • Electrical Project Engineer
  • Electrical Site Manager
  • Electrical Supervisor

You'll need a solid understanding of electrical building services and ideally experience working for an M&E or Building Services contractor.

Experience across LV distribution, lighting, small power, containment, fire alarms, data, security or other electrical building services installations would be beneficial, alongside a good understanding of how electrical packages are delivered on site.

Most importantly, you'll be organised, commercially aware, comfortable communicating with clients and subcontractors and ready to take the next step in your career.

The Package

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000, depending on experience

Car allowance or company vehicle

Pension

Bonus potential

Predominantly local projects

Structured development and mentoring

Clear progression into Project Management

Long-term career prospects within a growing regional business

If you're already carrying many of the responsibilities of a Project Manager but haven't yet been given the title, support or opportunity to properly make that step, this is exactly the type of role worth exploring.
