Cloud Senior Architect - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Cloud Senior Architect - Hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role owns the design and roadmap for hybrid big data platforms, establishing reference architectures, security models, and integration patterns for on-premise and cloud components. The ideal candidate will guide engineering teams, review designs, and ensure adherence to governance standards while collaborating with stakeholders to align architecture with business and regulatory needs. This position requires 3 days onsite per week.
Responsibilities:

• Own the design and roadmap for hybrid big data platforms
• Establish reference architectures, security models, and integration patterns for on-premise and cloud components
• Guide engineering teams, review designs, and ensure adherence to governance standards
• Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to align architecture with business and regulatory needs
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with PM on roadmaps and dependencies

Requirements:

• Deep knowledge of Azure data services (Databricks, Data Lake Storage, ADF, Event/Message services)
• Prior architecture work in Hadoop/Cloudera (HDFS, Spark, Hive/Impala, Ranger/Sentry), including integration design
• Experience with hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute/VPN), networking, security hardening, secrets/keys, and identity/RBAC
• Knowledge of data governance: catalog/lineage (e.g., Purview), schema evolution, DQ frameworks, retention, and audit
• Experience with scalability/performance design for batch/stream processing; reliability/DR across environments
• Familiarity with cost management and FinOps practices for clusters, storage tiers, and scheduling
• Experience with reference architectures, standards, and blueprint documentation; design review leadership
• Agile mindset: iterative evolution, MVPs, incremental component add ons, and migration planning
• Strong communication skills to align business, compliance, and engineering; stakeholder buy-in and presentation skills

Desired skills:

• Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Databricks Certified Architect
• Experience with Zero Trust controls and regulated data domains (financial/regulatory reporting)
• Familiarity with observability stacks and SRE patterns in data platforms
• Exposure to multi-region DR and active-active considerations

Pay range: $63.68 - $71.68 per hour
