Overview

The Senior Analytics Engineer is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for building reliable data pipelines and models, improving data quality and accessibility, and translating complex business needs into scalable technical solutions. This role serves as the internal owner of Haus Labs’ commercial data environment, connecting data from eCommerce platforms, retailers, marketing channels, and financial systems into trusted datasets and reporting tools.

Working directly in SQL, dbt, and Python, this role oversees critical data workflows and ensures reporting and analytical solutions reflect the context and logic behind the business. A core focus is strengthening self-service analytics and AI readiness through clear data models, documentation, semantic definitions, and quality standards that allow teams to answer business questions more independently and confidently.

What You’ll Do

  • Data Infrastructure and Modeling: Own and evolve the commercial data environment, including pipelines, transformations, business-facing models, and data marts.
  • Multi-Source Data Integration: Ingest, standardize, and reconcile data across eCommerce platforms, global retailers, marketing channels, financial systems, APIs, connectors, and recurring files.
  • Data Quality and Reliability: Establish testing, monitoring, and reconciliation processes; investigate issues across source data, pipelines, transformation logic, and downstream reporting.
  • Reporting and Self-Service Analytics: Develop trusted datasets, dashboards, and analytical tools that enable teams to evaluate performance and answer recurring business questions independently.
  • Retail and Omnichannel Analytics: Build scalable reporting across products, retailers, countries, channels, and stores to support planning and performance management.
  • Forecasting and Process Modernization: Translate commercial forecasting and reporting requirements into more scalable, automated, and durable technical solutions.
  • AI and Analytics Enablement: Establish clear metric definitions, documentation, semantic models, and governed datasets that support self-service and AI-enabled analytics.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Digital, DTC, Retail, Marketing, Finance, and Leadership to translate business questions and requirements into effective data products and analytical solutions.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence engineering, or a related data role.
  • Required experience supporting data and analytics for an eCommerce, retail, or consumer business.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong experience developing production data models and transformation pipelines.
  • Strong experience with dbt or a comparable data-transformation framework.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, API integrations, and analytical workflows.
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
  • Experience working with data from multiple platforms, retailer partners, APIs, connectors, and structured files.
  • Experience with analytical and visualization tools such as Hex, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Mode, or comparable platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Git-based version control and collaborative development practices.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear technical requirements and solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain data logic, definitions, and limitations to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation practices and exceptional attention to data accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable independently owning technical work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with Shopify, retailer data, marketing and attribution platforms, commercial forecasting, customer analytics, or profitability reporting.
  • Preferred: Experience developing semantic layers or data foundations for AI-enabled analytics.
  • Beauty-industry experience is a plus.
