Job Description

Liberty Recruitment Group are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a global organisation in the search for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their fantastic team on a permanent, part-time basis.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys taking ownership, working closely with people and being a key part of a wider HR function. You ll play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees receive an accurate, compliant and efficient payroll service throughout their employee lifecycle.

Based in Fareham, paying £40,000 FTE (£24,500 actual), this role offers 22.5 hours per week with hybrid working available. You ll be joining a fantastic HR & payroll team and reporting directly to an incredibly personable Head of People, who is a highly valued and integral part of the business.

What you'll do as the Senior Payroll Officer:
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring payroll is accurate, compliant and delivered on time, every time.
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pension regulations.
  • Maintain and develop payroll systems, ensuring data remains accurate, secure and reliable while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Take the lead on payroll-related projects, including system implementations, acquisitions, mergers and wider organisational changes.
  • Administer company pension schemes and employee benefits, ensuring everything runs smoothly and accurately.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and internal stakeholders, responding to payroll queries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end payroll reports, providing accurate information to support the wider business.
  • Support both internal and external financial audits relating to payroll.
  • Keep up to date with changes to payroll, tax and pension legislation, ensuring the organisation remains fully compliant.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A CIPP qualification or equivalent level of payroll experience.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within a medium or large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and statutory payments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right, even when working to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build positive relationships across the business.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines.
