About Us:

Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+; community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.

It is an exciting time to join Lambeth Council; we have bold ambitions for the future of Lambeth’s communities and residents through our Lambeth Priorities.

With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.

Our One Lambeth values of Equity, Kindness, Accountability and Ambition guide how we work together to support our communities, residents and each other.

Please have a look at our dedicated One Lambeth Values and Behaviours page.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly shaped HR & Organisational Development team following a recent service restructure. The restructure has created a strengthened operating model designed to deliver a modern, efficient and digitally enabled ‘One HR’ service that better supports Lambeth's workforce and organisational priorities.

As a new recruit into HR & OD, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality HR services across our large and diverse organisation, bringing skills and experience to developing new approaches and supporting continuous improvement, working closely with other colleagues across the function.

Human Resources and Organisational Development plays a key role in enabling organisational development, workforce strategy and transformational change across the Council. The service is structured across:

  • HR Business Partnering and Employee Relations
  • Resourcing and Operations
  • Organisational Development and Inclusion

Together, these teams deliver a strategic, customer-focused and digitally enabled people service that supports organisational performance, workforce sustainability and excellent people management practice.

As a Recruitment Support Officer, you will deliver high quality, efficient, and inclusive recruitment support across the Council. You will coordinate and deliver recruitment processes from onboarding to appointment, ensuring compliance with policy, governance, and our commitment to equity and justice. You will play a key role in providing a positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers, supporting safer recruitment, and embedding inclusive practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment processes, from onboarding onwards
  • Act as a key contact for candidates and managers, ensuring a professional and customer-focused experience
  • Support safer recruitment, including right to work checks, references, and DBS processes
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and documentation
  • Apply inclusive recruitment practices and support accessible processes
  • Use recruitment systems and digital platforms effectively
  • Support recruitment-related guidance for managers
  • Work collaboratively with HR and organisational colleagues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of recruitment processes and candidate experience

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of recruitment processes and administrative procedures
  • Understanding of inclusive recruitment practice and equality, diversity, and inclusion principles
  • Experience supporting or delivering recruitment activity or providing HR/customer-focused administrative support
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and working with systems or databases
  • Experience working as part of a team to deliver a consistent and customer-focused service
  • Relevant qualification in HR, business administration, or equivalent experience (desirable)

You will embody our core values of equity, kindness, accountability, and ambition, ensuring fairness, respect, and high standards in everything you do.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a supportive and inclusive team
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth
  • Make a real impact on our organisation and community
