QE Engagement Lead / Test Manager

Position: QE Engagement Lead / Test Manager

Client Location: Los Angeles, CA

Work Location: Remote/Hybrid (must work US Pacific Time)

Key Responsibilities:

• Program ownership: Own delivery outcomes and client relationship across every QE vertical in the engagement; run governance cadences and executive reporting.
• Transition leadership: Lead knowledge transfer from incumbent providers, shadow/validation phases, and a phased hiring ramp across multiple waves.
• Governance & SLAs: Define and operate KPI/SLA frameworks — automation coverage, defect leakage, staffing fill rate — with transparent reporting.
• Automation-first strategy: Champion an automation-led operating model and AI-assisted testing adoption across all verticals.
• Distributed team leadership: Run a global team with significant Pacific Time-aligned coverage; personally anchor West Coast business-hour presence.
• Peak-readiness: Plan quality operations for seasonal peak trading events, including code-freeze and holiday coverage.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10 - 14 years in QA/QE, including experience leading teams of 15+ across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Proven experience leading vendor transitions and testing-service takeovers.
• Retail or e-commerce domain experience strongly preferred.
• Strong grounding in modern automation toolchains (Python/Playwright, Selenium) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar) — enough to set strategy and defend it to technical stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of data quality engineering concepts sufficient to govern a dedicated data QE track.
• Excellent executive communication skills.
• Working knowledge in Retail Point Of Sales (POS) experience

Good to Have

• Exposure to AI-driven/GenAI-assisted testing approaches.
• Familiarity with retail POS or payments testing.
• ISTQB Advanced, PMP, or SAFe certification.
