Data Architect – OLTP / Transactional Databases

Great opportunity to join a large payments company working on a complex, high-volume transactional platform.

Location: London or South East England – 3 days per week in the office

Contract: 6-month initial contract, rolling

Rate: £300–£370 per day Umbrella

What the role involves

• Understanding and documenting a complex existing transactional platform
• Designing OLTP and system-of-record databases
• Creating conceptual, logical and physical data models
• Defining data standards and maintaining architecture documentation
• Working closely with developers and engineers to implement the architecture

Must have

• Proven experience designing or modelling transactional / OLTP databases that have gone into production
• Strong relational database design experience
• experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server
• Strong experience creating conceptual, logical and physical data models
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation that developers and engineers can work from

Nice to have

• experience with distributed or NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Google Spanner, Yugabyte or MongoDB
• Banking, financial services or payments experience
• experience with modelling tools such as ER/Studio or Erwin
