Job Description

ASSYST is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead cross-functional technical team in executing a high-priority Mainframe Transformation initiative in Austin TX (Remote) 

The Technical Project Manager mainly focuses on data migration, data ingestion into Snowflake, transformation logic, business calculations, and integration between .NET applications and Snowflake via MuleSoft or Informatica APIs. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical acumen to oversee application development, data engineering, integration, testing, and deployment teams throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Azure DevOps and Agile/Scrum methodologies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery, schedules, resources, and scope control for the Mainframe Transformation, data migration, and Azure/Snowflake initiatives.
  • Coordinate data discovery, source-to-target mapping, ETL/ELT pipelines, and Snowflake ingestion while managing dependencies, schema changes, and migration cutovers.
  • Validate calculation accuracy across .NET applications and Snowflake, while managing UAT planning, defect resolution, and business-owner sign-offs.
  • Direct integration efforts between .NET applications and Snowflake using MuleSoft or Informatica APIs, ensuring robust error handling and end-to-end testing.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and manage backlogs, sprint planning, and reliability priorities using Azure DevOps.
  • Oversee Azure DevOps CI/CD deployment pipelines, release approvals, rollback plans, and transition to post-launch support.
  • Supervise teams using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot or Kiro, ensuring generated code undergoes proper human review and testing.
  • Engage cross-functional stakeholders and track delivery metrics to align project execution with energy sector regulatory obligations.
  • Direct experience with mainframe modernization/transformation projects.
  • Hands-on experience interpreting data-flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, API specifications, and SQL validation queries.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Cloud Technical PM Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in technical project management for cloud-based enterprise initiatives (Azure environment strongly preferred).
  • Mainframe / Legacy Migration: Minimum 6 years managing projects migrating legacy/mainframe systems to COTS or Cloud environments.
  • Agile / SDLC Leadership: Minimum 6 years managing SDLC-based projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Azure DevOps & CI/CD: Minimum 6 years hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD tools, and automated deployment workflows.
  • Application Tech Stack: Minimum 6 years coordinating or managing projects involving .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Minimum 6 years leading cross-functional technical teams and delivering executive status reports, project dashboards, and project plans.  
  • Resource & Budget Management: Minimum 6 years managing project budgets, resource allocation, and vendor coordination.
  • Technical Environment & Tools Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps (CI/CD Pipelines, Repos, Boards)
  • Data & Analytics: Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, ETL/ELT
  • Integration & APIs: MuleSoft, Informatica APIs
  • Application Frameworks: .NET Core, C#
