Gibbs Consulting is expanding its specialist Mainframe delivery team to support an end-customer in the banking and financial services industry. We are looking for three experienced Db2 for z/OS infrastructure specialists to help maintain, optimise and strengthen a business-critical Mainframe environment.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking hands-on IBM Db2 for z/OS Systems Programmers or infrastructure-focused Mainframe Db2 DBAs with strong production support experience. You will support the stability, performance, maintenance and resilience of enterprise Db2 infrastructure. Candidates available immediately or on short notice are particularly welcome.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain IBM Db2 for z/OS subsystems and associated infrastructure.
• Investigate and resolve complex Db2 infrastructure incidents, performance issues and production problems.
• Manage Db2 maintenance, fixes, system changes and ongoing platform health.
• Support Db2 utilities, backup and recovery procedures, disaster recovery readiness and operational resilience.
• Monitor and tune Db2 performance, availability and capacity in a high-volume Mainframe environment.
• Work with infrastructure, database, security and operations teams to deliver controlled changes and reliable production support.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong hands-on IBM Db2 for z/OS systems programming, installation, configuration and maintenance experience.
• Alternatively, senior Mainframe Db2 DBA experience with demonstrable ownership of infrastructure-level activities.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, SMP/E and RACF in a Mainframe production environment.
• Proven Db2 performance tuning, troubleshooting, utilities, backup/recovery and disaster recovery experience.
• Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical enterprise systems, ideally in banking or financial services.
• Practical experience with incident management, problem management, change control and ITIL-aligned operations.

NICE TO HAVE

• IBM OMEGAMON or equivalent Mainframe performance monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting highly resilient, regulated banking environments.
