Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Sparks, NV is looking for a Controls Engineer for rolling out Functional Safety Upgrades within battery manufacturing equipment involving electrical drawing and design review.
Responsibilities:
* Program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio)
* Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC/Proface/Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition
* Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing and material transport
* Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation
* Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
* Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards
* Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
* Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment
* Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required
* Conduct all remaining functional safety gap audits to ensure all meet functional safety requirements and satisfy all callouts within the associate Risk Assessment
* Design all Functional Safety upgrade electrical and software design changes
* Conduct I/O Checks and go through the electrical integrity sheet to ensure all inputs and outputs are tested
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or 5+ years of experience in Control Systems Design and PLC, or equivalent experience
* Implementation experience (Siemens, Omron preferred) or equivalent
* Human Machine Interface experience (HMI/GUI - Proface, WinCC, Ignition)
* Proficiency creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD (EPLAN preferred)
* Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) programming skills
* Knowledge of functional safety with the ability to understand risk assessments, mitigation strategies and implement functional safety via electrical and hardware design and software
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
