Responsibilities Support RF and Sensor Technology for U.S. Navy Submarine Systems Arcfield is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the electrical and radio frequency (RF) performance, production, testing, troubleshooting and sustainment of sensor hardware and associated systems. Based in Middletown, Rhode Island, this role combines analytical engineering with hands-on laboratory, production and waterfront support.

You will work with RF/electrical components, antennas, cables, subassemblies and integrated sensor products; evaluate performance data and vendor test results; troubleshoot production and fielded hardware; and support bench-level and installed-system testing. The position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys moving between data analysis, laboratory test equipment, engineering drawings and physical hardware.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze electrical and RF performance data at the part, subassembly, and assembly levels using established sensor-system processes and specifications.
  • Evaluate incoming electrical and RF components and vendor-provided test data, identify non-conformances, and provide engineering recommendations regarding acceptance, rejection and potential performance impact.
  • Support production teams with assembly concerns, hardware troubleshooting, repair activities and technical recommendations.
  • Perform and support bench-level and platform testing of sensor products at laboratory, shipyard and waterfront locations.
  • Use RF and electronic test equipment such as FieldFox analyzers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, noise figure meters, oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies.
  • Create, analyze and maintain technical data products such as antenna manifold and gain-calibration files, and support Fleet-accessible data repositories.
  • Review and redline electrical/RF performance specifications and engineering drawings, including peer review prior to release.
  • Evaluate fielded sensor products for compliance with electrical and RF requirements and document deficiencies or technical concerns.
  • Coordinate evaluation and repair of electrical and RF production material.
  • Design RF, fiber-optic and copper cable assemblies in accordance with applicable military specifications.
  • Use MATLAB or similar analytical tools to process and evaluate engineering data.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams, production personnel and customer stakeholders.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • BS 0-2 yrs
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 0-3 Years Experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of RF/microwave engineering, including microwave systems and network analysis.
  • Experience using common test, measurement and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies.
  • Ability to analyze technical data, follow standard operating procedures, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information across customer and engineering organizations.
  • Strong organization, critical-thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred / Highly Desired Experience
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy submarine systems, submarine sensors or related undersea warfare technology.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including FieldFox, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and noise figure meters.
  • Experience with antennas, RF components, electrical/RF production hardware or sensor systems.
  • MATLAB or comparable data-analysis and processing experience.
  • Experience supporting hardware production, troubleshooting, repair, shipyard or waterfront testing.
  • Experience designing or working with RF, fiber-optic and copper cable assemblies to military specifications.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint.
