Job Details:
Job Title: Milling Machine Machinist 1
Location: Palmdale, CA
Duration: 12 months

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*) Set up and operate plain or universal, horizontal, and vertical milling machines.
*) Perform machining operations including compound angles, contours, boring, helical and spiral milling, serrating, and gear, spline, and keyway cutting.
*) Select, mount, and align specialized machine attachments and tooling.
*) Plan machining sequences, number of cuts, and setup methods.
*) Determine and adjust speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
*) Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
*) Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
*) Perform standard shop computations.
*) Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points for machining.
*) Monitor and verify quality according to established process control procedures.
*) Perform own machine setups and determine the sequence of operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
*) High school diploma or GED required.
*) 1+ year of experience in the machining/manufacturing industry.
*) Formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*) 2+ years of experience in the machining/manufacturing industry.
*) Experience with precision milling and machine setup.
