Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to own the technical direction and delivery of the Burn-in Tool & Support Tools project. This person will lead a small team of engineers building and maintaining internal tooling used to burn-in, validate, and monitor infrastructure, with a strong focus on networking (TCP/RDMA) diagnostics and observability. The Tech Lead will be based in the United States and will work closely with distributed team members in lower-cost regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for the Burn-in Tool and Support Tools codebase.
- Lead design and code reviews; set engineering standards and best practices for the team.
- Mentor and guide a team of 3 engineers, distributing work and unblocking technical issues.
- Design and build tooling in Python/Golang for automated burn-in testing and infrastructure validation.
- Drive development of networking diagnostics and monitoring tooling for TCP/RDMA-based systems.
- Debug complex, low-level networking and system issues across Linux environments.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (hardware, infra, QA) to define tooling requirements and roadmap.
- Own project delivery timelines and communicate status, risks, and trade-offs to management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong programming proficiency in Python and/or Golang.
- Deep networking expertise, including:
- Hands-on experience with TCP and RDMA protocols.
- Ability to debug complex networking issues in production/lab environments.
- Experience building or working with networking monitoring/observability tooling.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux systems internals and administration.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams or projects as a technical lead.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable working with a globally distributed team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with hardware burn-in / stress-testing tools.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar).
- Prior experience in storage, systems, or infrastructure engineering teams.
Experience & Education
- 10+ years of overall software/systems engineering experience.
- Prior experience in a technical leadership or tech lead capacity is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
