EMV Certification Engineer

Position Title: EMV Certification Engineer
Role Type: Full-time / Technical Lead
Location : Bentonville, Arkansas

Key Responsibilities

• Certification Execution: Lead and execute EMV Level 1/Level 2/Level 3 certification processes for payment terminals, smart card readers, and payment authorizers/hosts.

• Test Automation & Tooling: Run, validate, and re-test official certification test cases using Collis (UL) test tools and brand-specific test suites (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover).

• Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve payment transaction flows, device communication failures, APDU logs, and kernel-level device issues.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with hardware engineers, software developers, QA teams, and merchant acquiring partners on device setup, test bed configuration, and defect resolution.

• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain precise, auditable test logs, trace files, certification artifacts, and compliance documentation for terminal brand approval (TQA).

• Environment Support: Support, manage, and optimize staging and certification environments to ensure all brand and partner requirements are met on timeline.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• EMV Expertise: Hands-on experience with EMV contact and contactless certification processes, kernel configurations, and payment device testing.

• Hardware & Terminals: Proven track record working directly with Ingenico payment terminals and device management systems.

• Certification Tooling: High proficiency with Collis (UL) testing tools (e.g., Collis Brand Test Tool / BTT, Collis EMV Test Tool) or equivalent industry test suites.

• POS & Transaction Testing: Solid experience testing credit/debit card processing, transaction message protocols (ISO 8583), and host interfaces in retail POS environments.

• Problem Solving: Strong analytical abilities to inspect raw hex logs, trace L2/L3 APDU commands, and identify root causes in payment flows.

• Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to document test runs and interface with acquirers, card brands, and internal product teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Domain Background: 3+ years of experience in the retail POS, payment gateway, or payment acquiring industry.

• Contactless Payments: Knowledge of NFC, mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and contactless L2 brand certifications (VCPS, M/Chip, etc.).

• Security Standards: Familiarity with PCI-DSS, PCI-PTS, and PIN pad encryption standards (DUKPT, P2PE).
