Design Engineer

Connect Appointments is recruiting a Design Engineer to design wire and cable products for an established manufacturer in Dundee, paying 40K to 50K depending on experience.

This is a role with genuine influence. You'll take customer requirements and turn them into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions, working directly with customers on technical proposals and closely with production to make sure every design stacks up both technically and commercially.

As a Design Engineer, your duties will include:

• Designing wire and cable products to meet customer specifications and industry standards
• Producing construction drawings, material specifications and manufacturing instructions
• Costing designs across materials, labour and production to keep pricing competitive
• Preparing technical proposals and quotes directly for customers
• Working with production to make sure designs can actually be built
• Running feasibility studies and suggesting changes to improve performance or cut cost

To be considered as a Design Engineer, you will need:

• A degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Previous manufacturing design experience
• Strong costing and estimating skills
• CAD experience, with TurboCAD preferred, plus Excel and Visio
• Working knowledge of standards such as UL, CSA and IEC
• The ability to explain technical detail clearly to non-technical people
