Position: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday, 08:00-16:00; Friday, 08:00-13:00
Holiday: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.

The successful candidate will manage mechanical design projects from initial customer specifications through to completed designs and production. You will also support manufacturing and procurement teams, while contributing to the development and improvement of existing products.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established manufacturer, working on bespoke engineering projects within a supportive engineering environment.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview

• Review customer requirements and assess project specifications, providing technical support to the Sales team.
• Produce mechanical designs and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed drawings, design documentation and bills of materials.
• Support procurement with technical information and design requirements.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams throughout the production and build process.
• Contribute to new product development and improvements to existing designs.
• Liaise with internal departments, customers and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered effectively.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC level or above.
• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design or Design Engineering role.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD experience, ideally using SOLIDWORKS.
• Experience managing design projects from customer specification through to production.
• Able to work to project deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Organised, proactive and methodical approach to design and documentation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small Engineering team.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Package

• Salary of £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience.
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
• 35-hour working week.
• Monday to Thursday, 08:00-16:00, with an early finish at 13:00 on Fridays.
• Contributory pension scheme.
