Position Overview

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers at the Associate, Professional, and Senior levels to provide mechanical engineering expertise within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting production equipment, manufacturing systems, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects.

This role will work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, efficiency, quality, and throughput.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Leadership

• Research, plan, design, develop, and implement mechanical systems, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Provide mechanical engineering support for production equipment, utilities, and auxiliary systems.
• Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, and throughput.
• Troubleshoot equipment-related issues and perform root cause analysis to develop effective corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing, maintenance, and operational teams.
• Provide engineering input for new or modified systems, processes, and technologies.

Project Management

• Lead or support capital and continuous improvement projects, including equipment modifications, upgrades, and major machine installations.
• Manage projects ranging from approximately $50K to $1M.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and implementation plans.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Support procurement activities, including vendor selection, RFQs, capital requests, and project cost tracking.
• Oversee equipment installation, startup, testing, validation, and project closeout.
• Plan and organize project activities involving budgets, manpower, equipment, and other resources.

Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Lead continuous improvement and corrective action activities with an emphasis on reducing scrap, waste, downtime, and operational losses.
• Evaluate existing equipment, systems, processes, and technologies to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead reliability improvement initiatives and corrective action projects.
• Utilize engineering principles and data analysis to improve operational performance.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
• Recommend modifications and enhancements to improve quality, efficiency, and equipment performance.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote a strong safety culture by incorporating safety requirements into engineering activities.
• Participate in risk assessments and machine safeguarding evaluations.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable company standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Support contractor safety and quality compliance during project execution.
• Ensure all applicable safety objectives and legal requirements are followed throughout project activities.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and manufacturing teams.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing systems and processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
• Relevant mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment, machinery, mechanical systems, or plant utilities.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, or modifications.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and continuous improvement principles.
• Experience with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, maintenance, operations, contractors, and vendors.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Graniteville, SC.
