Hadoop Developer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Hybrid)

Role Overview

An experienced Hadoop Developer is sought to design, develop, and support large-scale Big Data solutions that enable risk reporting and analytics. This role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, leveraging Hadoop, Spark, ETL, and automation technologies to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with business and technology partners, drive process improvements, and support strategic data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize Big Data solutions using the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark) to process large-scale datasets efficiently.
• Utilize strong ETL skills with deep experience in Hadoop and Big Data technologies.
• Employ proficiency in Apache Spark, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Apply solid PL/SQL and RDBMS knowledge, along with advanced Unix/Unix shell scripting.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, scheduling tools, and automation.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve development, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Leverage knowledge of Bitbucket, Gradle, Jenkins, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform data and code analysis, including diagnosing data quality issues and performing root-cause analysis.
• Support production teams in resolving critical issues.

Required Qualifications

• Mid- to senior-level experience as a Hadoop Developer.
• Proficiency in the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark).
• Strong ETL skills and experience with Big Data technologies.
• Expertise in Apache Spark, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of PL/SQL, RDBMS, and advanced Unix/Unix shell scripting.
• Understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, scheduling tools, and automation.
• Experience with development tools such as Bitbucket, Gradle, Jenkins, and Ansible for CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability in data and code analysis for diagnosing data quality issues and root-cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Agile teams with the ability to lead small initiatives and promote best practices.
• Strong Python scripting skills and experience participating in or leading Proofs of Concept (POCs).
• Experience in Enterprise Credit Risk or broader financial risk platforms.
