Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Consultant to support a large-scale Customer Transformation Program within the utilities industry. This role will serve as a liaison between Customer Care, business stakeholders, Data & Analytics (D&A), functional teams, testing teams, and Customer Transformation delivery teams.

The Data Consultant will support reporting, data conversion testing, analytics, data validation, and cutover activities, helping ensure that data-related initiatives remain aligned with business priorities and program objectives. The consultant will also assist with gathering and prioritizing reporting requirements for Day 1 and the post-go-live backlog.

This role requires someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with both business and technical teams, and able to translate business needs into clear reporting and data requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate across business, D&A, functional, testing, and program delivery teams to support reporting and data initiatives.
  • Assist with gathering, documenting, and prioritizing business reporting, KPI, dashboard, and analytics requirements.
  • Support the review and rationalization of reports to determine whether they should be redeveloped, redesigned, consolidated, retired, or replaced with standard/out-of-the-box functionality.
  • Help maintain the Day 1 reporting inventory and post-go-live backlog, ensuring priorities align with business and program objectives.
  • Partner with the D&A team to support reporting standards, governance, intake processes, and data definitions.
  • Coordinate with functional teams and D&A to facilitate data conversion testing and validation activities.
  • Track data conversion testing activities, issues, dependencies, and outstanding business validation.
  • Work with testing teams to support reporting test scenarios and SIT/UAT activities.
  • Assist with data validation, reconciliation, defect identification, and issue resolution.
  • Support data-related mock conversion, cutover, and go-live readiness activities.
  • Help identify manual data-entry requirements associated with conversion and cutover, including what is required, ownership, and timing.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand analytical outputs, data limitations, business terminology, and data usage standards.
  • Support development and validation of operational dashboards and executive reporting in collaboration with D&A and business stakeholders.
  • Perform data analysis using Excel, including PivotTables, data comparisons, validation, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Maintain trackers, action items, risks, issues, dependencies, and status reporting.
  • Support communications, presentations, documentation, and business-readiness activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting and data-related processes and reduce unnecessary duplication or rework.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience gathering and documenting reporting, dashboard, KPI, or analytical requirements.
  • Experience with report rationalization, prioritization, and use-case validation.
  • Experience supporting data validation, data conversion, testing, reconciliation, or cutover activities.
  • Experience working with BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, data analysis, comparisons, and validation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple activities, deadlines, dependencies, and issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a large, cross-functional transformation program.
  • Ability to understand the broader program objective while effectively managing detailed tactical activities.
