About Nearmap
Property intelligence is reshaping how the world understands the built environment, and Nearmap is driving that. We put powerful aerial imagery, AI-driven analytics, and geospatial tools into the hands of the people who plan, build, insure, and govern the places we all live and work. Our technology turns property uncertainty into decisive action, and our culture brings out the best in the people who build it.
We move fast, we care about craft, and we're proud of what we're building. If you're energized by turning hard problems into real-world impact, we'd love to meet you.
Reporting to the Director, Financial Operations, you’ll take ownership of Nearmap’s Australian end-to-end monthly payroll and payroll-related systems. You’ll ensure our people are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards. Working closely with Finance, People & Culture and external providers, you’ll manage payroll reporting and reconciliations, respond to employee queries, administer our payroll system, and continuously improve payroll processes and the employee experience.
- Own and process Australian end-to-end monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate payroll data and administer the payroll system, including correct setup of employee remuneration and benefits.
- Run payroll reports, reconciliations and data checks, maintaining robust audit processes to support accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare payroll tax, workers’ compensation and other statutory reports for relevant authorities and insurers.
- Manage year-end payroll reporting and other ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Respond to payroll queries promptly and deliver a high level of internal customer service.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of payroll taxation, Modern Awards, the National Employment Standards and other relevant legislation.
- Maintain the Payroll Manual, training materials, policies and procedures, ensuring documentation remains accurate and current.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to payroll systems, controls and processes to increase efficiency, service quality and the overall employee experience.
About you
- You’re detail-oriented. You bring strong administrative skills and take pride in delivering accurate, well-controlled payroll outcomes.
- You’re service-minded. You respond to employee queries promptly and work collaboratively with Finance, People & Culture and external partners.
- You’re improvement-focused. You look for practical ways to strengthen payroll controls, streamline processes and improve the employee experience.
- You’re trustworthy. You handle confidential and sensitive information with maturity, discretion and sound judgment.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years’ payroll experience managing end-to-end payroll for a mid-sized to large organisation.
- Working knowledge of payroll-related legislation, taxation requirements, Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards.
- Demonstrated experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, data checks and audit processes.
- Strong customer service, time management and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with payroll and related business systems.
- Maturity, discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive employee information.
- Experience using UKG Ready and Payroll Metrics is highly desired; a tertiary qualification is desirable but not required.
