The Opportunity
How can better workforce data help an organisation make more informed decisions? As our Workforce Reporting Analyst, you will play an important role in delivering the trusted workforce insights that support planning, operational decision-making and regulatory reporting across Western Sydney University. Your work will help ensure workforce information is accurate, consistent and fit for purpose.

Working closely with the Strategic Workforce Intelligence Lead and collaborating with stakeholders across People & Culture, HR Systems, Finance and Data & Analytics, you will manage a portfolio of workforce dashboards, reports and automated reporting cycles. Using advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI, Power Query and Power Automate, you will analyse data from multiple sources, maintain reliable reporting outputs and investigate discrepancies.

You will also support the preparation and validation of regulatory and statutory workforce reporting, including WGEA and TCSI staff data. With a strong focus on data governance, confidentiality and documentation, you will maintain clear records of reporting logic, data definitions and processes. You will help prioritise reporting requests, improve automation and data quality, and build confidence across HR stakeholders to use workforce reporting and self-service tools effectively.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Deliver accurate, timely and reliable workforce dashboards, reports and automated reporting cycles.

  • Apply consistent data standards, validation controls, privacy safeguards and governance practices when handling sensitive workforce and payroll information.

  • Support accurate, reconciled and timely regulatory and statutory workforce reporting.

  • Maintain clear documentation of data definitions, business rules, query logic, reporting processes and changes.

  • Translate workforce data into actionable insights, improve reporting processes and support HR stakeholders to use workforce reporting confidently.

Please refer to the Position Description for full details.

  • Advanced Excel skills, exposure to Power Query and Power Automate, and demonstrated experience writing SQL against relational databases and developing Power BI reports and dashboards. Experience with Oracle is desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience collecting, validating and analysing complex workforce, HR or comparable datasets from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns and risks.

  • A strong commitment to data governance, confidentiality and privacy when handling sensitive information, with disciplined documentation of analytical work and reporting processes.

  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly, manage competing priorities, share knowledge and support data literacy across HR.
