Job description

PMC Abingdon, Oxfordshire (on-site), full-time, 6-month temporary contract with possible extension, day rate £250-£350 pd depending on experience

When the numbers don’t add up, do you need to know why?

PMC is an independent global leader in commerce technology. Some of the best-known brands rely on us to keep their operations running, around the clock. From consulting and engineering to 24/7 managed services, we build and run the technology behind how they sell.

We’re looking for a curious, detail-driven Data Administrator to join our Graphene team on a temporary basis. You’ll be the person who makes sure the data behind one of our key retail customers is accurate and trustworthy.

This data drives the customer’s day-to-day retail operations. If it’s wrong, their business feels it. Your job is to make sure it’s right.

What you’ll do

  • Review our key retail customer’s data and check it for accuracy and consistency.
  • Spot errors, gaps and anomalies, and flag them quickly.
  • Question the data. If something looks odd, find out why.
  • Dig into root causes, not just symptoms, so problems don’t come back.
  • Work with the Graphene team and the customer’s team to correct issues and confirm fixes.
  • Keep clear records of what you’ve found, what’s changed and why.
  • Help keep the data sound, trusted and ready to use.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous experience. We care more about how you think.

  • Research, analytical or problem-solving skills, whether gained through study, work or other experience.
  • Naturally inquisitive. You ask “why?” and keep going until you have the answer.
  • Sharp attention to detail and a genuine care for getting things right.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and large sets of information.
  • Clear communicator, confident asking questions and explaining what you’ve found.
  • Organised, methodical and able to manage your own workload.

Nice to have

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. lookups, pivot tables, filtering).
  • An interest in retail, data or technology.

What you’ll get

  • A behind-the-scenes view of how data keeps a major retailer running.
  • An experienced team who’ll back you, answer your questions and help you learn fast.
  • Real, CV-worthy experience to start or grow a career in data, analytics or retail technology
