Senior Software Engineer SAP S/4HANA & Technical Leadership

Lead complex software development projects within a major Australian Government technology environment. This EL1-equivalent role offers technical leadership responsibilities across software design, development, release and deployment, with preferred experience in SAP S/4HANA, UI5, ABAP, Angular and Node.js.

Location: Brisbane, QLD Canberra, ACT Melbourne, VIC

Work Arrangement: Onsite for the first 6 weeks, with hybrid working arrangements potentially available thereafter.

Contract Duration: 12 months, up to a maximum of 24 months.

Security Clearance Requirement: Current Baseline clearance.

Essential Tasks

• Lead complex software development projects, providing technical direction, mentoring and guidance to engineering teams.


• Design, develop, test and maintain software solutions while ensuring code quality, security and compliance with development standards.


• Oversee software releases, deployment planning, production support and resolution of complex technical issues.


• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate technical requirements, recommend solutions and drive successful project delivery.

Key Criteria

• Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams and delivering complex enterprise software solutions.


• Strong expertise in software design, programming, configuration management, release management and deployment practices.


• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, UI5, ABAP, Angular or Node.js is highly regarded.


• Experience in government or similarly large-scale organisations, with strong technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and problem solving capabilities.
