Senior UX Designer
Contract Length: 12 months
Location: New York, NY
Work Setup: Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Join a collaborative team of 20 engineers and product managers focused on improving the rider experience across buses and subways. The Senior UX Designer will lead user-centered design efforts across complex digital products while partnering with product, engineering, research, and creative teams.
Senior UX Designer Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across digital platforms, including signage for NYCT/LIRR/MNR.
• Partner with UXR to understand rider needs, behaviors, and pain points and maintain a continuous user feedback loop.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align user needs with business goals.
• Partner with the Creative team, which owns the MTA brand.
• Present design concepts and research findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Establish and document UX processes and best practices.
• Implement user testing and other quality control measures.

Senior UX Designer Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in UX design, with a focus on mobile applications.
• Proven experience leading UX for complex digital products.
• Experience working in agile development environments.
• Experience with design systems.
• Strong leadership skills to champion user-centered design practices.
• Proficiency in UX design tools, and excellent visual design skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with complexity, with close attention to detail.

Senior UX Designer Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the transportation industry or related fields.
• Experience with accessibility guidelines.
