Job Description

We are seeking an Application Developer II with 3+ years of hands-on software development experience to develop, maintain, and support healthcare applications on the Facets platform. The team focuses on interface development for HMO products, so healthcare payer experience is required.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL, stored procedures, and REST APIs, along with experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and deploy enterprise applications.
  • Build and support Java-based applications using Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
  • Develop and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and batch-processing solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and backend services.
  • Create unit tests, execute testing, debug code, and participate in code reviews.
  • Assist with application design, implementation, and technical documentation.
  • Use AI coding assistants to improve code quality, testing, troubleshooting, and productivity.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Agile/Scrum development processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional, hands-on application development experience.
  • Healthcare payer experience is mandatory, preferably working with Facets or HMO applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, optimization, performance tuning, and stored procedures.
  • Experience developing and maintaining REST APIs.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub and AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, debugging, unit testing, and code reviews.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must be local to the Detroit, Michigan area and able to work onsite one day per week.
  • The manager prefers candidates with a practical, hands-on development background rather than leadership-focused experience.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in the role and a willingness to stay and contribute long-term.
